Ripley is a growing Doberman puppy. She needs an active owner not afraid to show her who is the boss. She is 6.5 months old (as of January 3rd, 2012) but is already convinced she is a grownup. A big girl with a big bark, she should end up being one of the larger Doberman females (approximately 70 lbs). She is a beautiful pedigreed black and tan girl with natural ears and a cropped tail. Ripley is VERY smart and therefore learns what is expected of her quickly AND likes to test the limits to see what you will let her get away with. She has learned “sit” and “down,” although she doesn’t quite understand “stay.” She will thrive with consistency and dedication to her training, and could very well excel in agility or other dog sports. Ripley loves playing with other dogs but needs a doggie sibling who is tough and active. She would tend to annoy a grumpier dog and could really bother or even hurt a small, non-playful dog or a fragile senior. Cats are questionable; one would need to be big and tough enough to show her kitty manners. Otherwise, her socialization is really progressing well. Currently being fostered with 2 female Dobermans and a Min Pin, she also has been introduced to horses and goats and did very well with them. After a day of walks and dog park outings she enjoys resting on the cool tile while you cook dinner or sleeping on your feet while your family watches movies. She has been introduced to children but we recommend no small ones because of her tendency to jump or dominate kids. She will be bigger than a four year old very soon! This girl deserves a home with experienced Doberman owners who understand and won’t hesitate to provide the time, energy, and resources necessary to make this wild puppy a polite and obedient Dober lady. Couch potatoes and those who overestimate their “puppy tolerance” levels should definitely pass on Ripley.
