Dolly is a 4 month old female Doberman. Last month, two Doberman puppies were found abandoned in a park. After no owner was found, they were surrendered to DHDR. We were puzzled as to why Dolly was so much smaller than the other puppy, Parton. Testing showed that Dolly has Megaesophagus. Many ‘ME’ dogs need to eat and sometimes drink in a Bailey Chair, which keeps them upright. They typically need more regular vet care, and specific routines.
Megaesophagus is a disorder that prevents the esophagus—the tube connecting the mouth to the stomach—from moving food and water normally. While serious, many dogs live meaningful, happy lives with proper management and committed care. Dolly is currently doing well and can even take some treats without being upright.
Dolly loves people, other dogs, and chasing after toys. She also does great with kids of all ages.
